Joy's Diary
Joy passed away on August 1, 2002. Since that time I have maintained this site with the hope that it will help educate and
bring comfort to all those who visit.
During Joy's life I made the entires below. She was a very happy and very loving baby.
6 months: Joy started rolling over, but didn't do it often until she was put into PT
7 months: Joy started sitting, but regressed a little when she went into the hospital for a Urinary Track Infection and started
sitting again at 9 months.
10 months: Joy started crawling and then stopped. She was a good eater until we started her DDAVP for Diabetes Insipidus
and then she seemed to not want to eat with a spoon anymore. She seems to be growing out of that habbit very slowoly.
12 months: Joy started to hold her bottle all by herself.
14 months: Joy started to kneel and started to sit herself up when on her back or on her tummy. Her vision has since gotten
a little better and she now turns her head in your direction when you call her name. She will also grab a toy if you shake or
rattle it by her ear. She does this herself often, looking fascinated that she can make the sound herself.
15 months: Joy was put on medication for her Thyroid. It has made a noticeable difference in her life. She is babbling like
crazy and starting to imitate a lot of what we do. She loves to copy laughs!
22 months: Joy is on Growth Hormone which seems to be making a big difference. She is growing so much and making
some wonderful changes. She has to have attention at all times and throws huge fits when she is not the center of attention.
Her favorite word is "at" which she is always saying. She is not walking yet, but she rolls around on the floor and
then sits herself up when she arrives at the location that she wants to be at. She is also helping us dress herself, by putting
her arms in her sleeves and her legs in her pant legs. She gives the most wonderful hugs and puts her arms up when she
wants to be held.
2 years old: Joy put two words together, "Mama, up." She will also say "Baba"; for her bottle and was taught to say,
"My mama" by her three year old cousin. She is also bearing a lot more weight on her legs, although she is not
yet standing. When we ask her to lay down so that we can give her medicine to her she lays down and clamps her mouth
shut really tight. Mostly, Joy loves life. She is an inspiration sent down from God. She is the greatest gift that we could
have ever received, and I'm so happy that she was made the way that she was. She is perfect. I have learned the truth in the
statement that, "God does not make mistakes"
